Bug#367510: gnome-panel: Desktop->Logout doesn't log me out anymore

The new version of "Logout" displays a 60 second timer, which
itself seems to be a security hole, since if you walk away
without noticing that, someone can come behind you, Cancel
the logout countdown and "become you".

In that dialog box, there is a Logout button who's purpose 
*seems* to be "instant logout", but it doesn't.  Pressing it
just closes the dialog box and returns me to the desktop.

The whole thing is really aggrivating.  Instead of doing
importannt things like reducing GNOME's memory footprint, they
are adding little dis-usabilities that are going to drive people
away.
