First of all, I'm sorry for the later answer, but I *try* to keep away
from computers at weekends. ;-)

Yes, I'm a very novice debian user and this packages seems to be
exactly what I needed. If it's installation does not imply the
installation of any evolution packages, it's fine. Nothing agains
evolution (i can criticize somethng i never tested), but it consumes
lots of disk space, just that.

Nevermind it, it was my fault to do not underestand the essence of
GNOME (as you kindly explained me).

I respect choices of anyone. Since I can have a minimal GNOME working
with gnome-core, it's fine to include in the gnome or
gnome-desktop-environment any software selection that provides this
features integrated.

Altough, I'm convinced that most of this software is not a must in a
desktop system, but pobably I'm not the average user at all.

I just don't install random packages, I like to choose the minimal set
that provides me what I need, which excludes mail software like
evolution, icedove and so on.

I really appreciate your reply and I'll try to see what I get with
gnome-core. Thanks!

Cheers, Alexandre
