Bug#579405: When using multiple Screens gnome-shell/mutter does not start up

I configured multiple screens (having different sizes) for X and logging in gnome-shell does not start - neither does mutter or nautilus (all set to autostart in my gnome). I'm not sure whether it outputs to some log file by default.
As a side note - I'm using nvidia drivers - perhaps they could be a minor problem, too.
