Bug#689381: X: Login screen fails to appear, though you can still interact with it

Hi Paul

Sorry for my late reply. On most occasions when this bug has arisen I
have been able to log in and everything loads fine. A couple of times
the gnome panel has not appeared and I had to reboot my laptop. Just
so you know, I have never uses an additional monitor with this laptop.
