Bug#731426: gnome-session: GNOME does not offer to hibernate or suspend to RAM

Package: gnome-session
Version: 3.8.4-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

If I log in with either the 'GNOME' or 'GNOME Classic' sessions, the
shutdown dialog only offers 'Cancel', 'Reboot' and 'Shutdown'. There is
no 'Suspend' or 'Hibernate' option.

Furthermore my laptop's special key combination to suspend to RAM only
blanks the screen. Also the laptop does not suspend to RAM if I close
the lid (and I most definitely do not want it to).

Yet:
 * If I run the following command then the laptop suspends to RAM
normally. So that functionality is present and working.

   dbus-send --print-reply --system --dest=org.freedesktop.UPower
       /org/freedesktop/UPower "org.freedesktop.UPower.Suspend"

 * If I log in using the 'GNOME Flashback' session, then I do get the
suspend to RAM and hibernate options. And the suspend to RAM Fn key
   combination works too!

 * Finally I can also suspend to RAM from the GDM 3 screen.

 * This persists even after I wiped out my GNOME configuration.

So this bug is specific to the GNOME / GNOME Classic sessions.
