I'm wondering though if this isn't just another symptom of
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=745901 ?

Do other applications using clutter work for you or is this
only a problem with emerillon? Which applications have you tested
that works for example?

Unfortunately not much we can do when you're using a proprietary
driver, but hopefully the workarounds mentioned in the
fglrx bug report is useful to you!
