Great! Couldn't we even get rid of the script snippet entirely, then? I
wonder why upstream removed this code in the first place and decided to
rely on a shell-dependant script snippet solution that requires explicit
user configuration at all?

BTW, there are currently three incarnations of vte in the archive. Is
there a specific reason for that?
