Thanks, it's really useful to have such a simple reproducer for this crash.

That patch seems to fix the pavucontrol crash for me. Make sure you upgrade
everything with `debi --upgrade libcanberra_*.changes` or equivalent: from
the information added by reportbug you seem to have a mixture of versions.
