Bug#846896: Patching

I don't know Vala (but I do know other languages), but I'd be happy to
try to work it out and submit a patch to fix this problem if someone
would be willing to point me in the general direction of where the code
that actually handles the fade is.

I imagine this should be a fairly easy fix.
