I chose this option (thanks for the permission) and just send the NMU
to my sponsor. For your reference, the files are:

At the moment those files are under debian/po-up, so there was no need
to create or reabase patches, they are Debian maintained stand alone.
(I did not investigate further how these files are actually used, so
please excuse if I missed your point).
