Dear Maintainer,

With XFCE, open any PDF file, for instance :

wget https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/packaging-tutorial/packaging-tutorial.pdf
evince packaging-tutorial.pdf

The thumbnails of pages in the left pane are empty (see attached
screenshot).

In the terminal, I get:
```

I have an NVIDA GPU.

In a VM also with XFCE, the thumbnails are correctly rendered, but I
still get in the terminal:
