Package: libgexiv2-dev
Version: 0.16.0-1
Severity: serious
Tags: ftbfs
Justification: ftbfs
Control: affects -1 viking

Hi,

Coincidentally I am working on my package viking today and was
experiencing build failures I wasn't expecting, even without changes.
The package builds fine in testing. The error message in unstable is:
"""
| /* Override any GCC internal prototype to avoid an error.
| Use char because int might match the return type of a GCC
| builtin and then its argument prototype would still apply.
|    The 'extern "C"' is for builds by C++ compilers;
| although this is not generally supported in C code supporting it here
| has little cost and some practical benefit (sr 110532). */
| #ifdef __cplusplus
| extern "C"
| #endif
| char gexiv2_metadata_new (void);
| int
| main (void)
| {
| return gexiv2_metadata_new ();
|   ;
|   return 0;
| }
configure:11768: result: no
configure:11777: error: libgexiv2 is needed but not found - you will
need to install package 'libgexiv2-dev' or similar. The feature can be
disabled with --disable-geotag
"""
and the version of libgexiv2-dev in unstable is different than in
testing, so I'm filling this bug for further investigation. If viking
needs to adapt please help me with figuring out what and give me some
time to adapt before migrating gexiv2.

Paul
