Please don't do that anymore.

  SSH_AUTH_SOCK="$(gpgconf --list-dirs agent-ssh-socket)"
  export SSH_AUTH_SOCK

is the way to go.

Right.  gpg-agent takes a copy of the key and stored it in its own DB.
