What specifically? Etcd is sensitive to names of variables hence there is a
possibility for typo. I've checked vars with documentation assuming it is
accurate... I did not test all variables but some of them like ETCD_NAME,
ETCD_LISTEN_*, ETCD_INITIAL_CLUSTER, ETCD_INITIAL_ADVERTISE_PEER_URLS,
ETCD_INITIAL_CLUSTER_STATE, etc. work for me as I was able to successfully
bootstrap etcd member in clean SysV/sid environment using new style config.

This is not what I observe here. Perhaps we could add explicit exports but I
wonder how (and why) it does not work for you.
