To make sure, I've just done a build of your latest 8.1.3.orig.tar.gz (of 23-Feb) with -1.debian.tar.gz unpacked on top of it (after rm -rf
debian/).
I still see the symlink warnings (these come on with ~/.lintianrc: display-experimental=yes; $ lintian --display-experimental).

Oh, ok. Your DEB_PARALLEL_JOBS solution would work with the CDBS build system, but d/rules uses dh.
