Package: grub
Version: 0.95+cvs20040624-8
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

update-grub allows to specify altoptions - having multiple grub menu
lines for a single kernel with additional options. A line with
additional options can have an additional label.

Please consider allowing options that are only added to the kernel
command line for the first, default, unattributed line. This would be
a good idea for ACPI hibernation, allowing a boot menu like

linux 2.6.8.1 => vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 resume=/dev/hda2
linux 2.6.8.1 (recovery mode) => vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 single
linux 2.6.8.1 (run level 3) => vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 3

Note the resume clause only added in the default case. Setups like
that are going to be increasingly common in the near future.

Greetings
Marc
