Hi Jason,
I too am suffering from the problem reported in this bug. Removing
/boot/grup/device.map seems to appease update-grub, but I am yet to
reboot. As requested, I have attached my /etc/fstab and
/boot/grub/menu.lst files.
Here is the output of a mount:
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part2 on / type ext3 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
/dev/base/home on /home type ext3 (rw)
/dev/base/tmp on /tmp type ext3 (rw)
/dev/base/usr on /usr type ext3 (rw)
/dev/base/var on /var type ext3 (rw)
and here is the output of an ls -la /dev/hda:
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 32 Jan 25 2004 /dev/hda -> ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
regards
Andrew
