Hi,
Sorry, had a problem with my .procmailrc and I have delayed writing
you, and meanwhile you formatted your partition. Anyway, I believe it
was a problem with your /etc/fstab. When the kernel boots, it mounts the
root partition read-only, and if no root= option is present (lilo always
has one), then it reads /etc/fstab and get the partition from there.
Your grub is missing the root=... line I believe, thus it read your
/etc/fstab, which still showed /dev/hda3 as your root. You can confirm
this by booting up your Woody, alter the fstab on your Sarge partition
to be /dev/hda3, and then try to boot it via Grub. You should see the
problem you have reported in the first place.
