Package: grub
Version: 0.93+cvs20031021-8
Severity: normal

Hi,

memtest86 and memtest86+ are both meant to be booted directly like a
Linux kernel. This used to work until recently, when grub started
giving "Error 28 : Selected item cannot fit into memory" in response
to the kernel command.

Googling suggests this is some kind of problem with the ELF offset
address in the memtest binaries, but since both files boot fine from
floppy, CD and lilo, I suspect this is a grub issue.

It might be related to a BIOS problem on the systems, since I can only
reproduce this on one machine.

Greetings
Marc
