Package: grub
Version: 0.95+cvs20040624-17
Followup-For: Bug #374371
The wrong sort order the original reporter of this bug experienced is also true if kernel with version numbers consisting of three parts, coexist with ones with four parted numbers like 2.4.33.1. The output of update-grub looks like this:
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.33-westend9-p4
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.33.1-westend9-p4
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.32-westend9-p4
But it should be:
vmlinuz-2.4.33.1-westend9-p4
vmlinuz-2.4.33-westend9-p4
vmlinuz-2.4.32-westend9-p4
-- System Information:

Architecture: i386 (i686)
Kernel: Linux 2.4.33-westend9-p4
Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968)
Versions of packages grub depends on:
ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an
ii libncurses5 5.4-4 Shared libraries for terminal hand
-- no debconf information
