Hi Thomas,
dear maintainer,

on my desktop box, is the same problem. I described it on the amd64
list: http://lists.debian.org/debian-amd64/2009/12/msg00000.html
Its also raid 1 with lvm on 2 80GB disks.

Im running both kernels
linux-image-2.6.30-2-amd64
linux-image-2.6.31-1-amd64
and grub2 was fine until an apt-get update&&apt-get upgrade in 1. dezember.

$fdisk -l /dev/sda
Device	Boot	Start	End	Blocks Id	System
/dev/sda	1	9729	78148161	fd	Linux raid

$cat /proc/mounts
/dev/vg0/vgroot	/	ext2	rw,errors=continue	0	0

$pvs
PV VG	Fmt	Attr	PSize	PFree
/dev/md0	vg0	lvm2	a	74,53g	0

$vgs
VG	#PV	#LV	#SN	Attr	VSize	VFree
vg0	1	4	0	wz--n-	74,53g	0

$lvs
LV	VG	Attr	LSize	Origin	Snap%	Move	Log	Copy%	Convert
lvhome	vg0	-wi-a-	23.28g
lvroot	vg0	-wi-ao	37.25g
lvswap	vg0	-wi-a-	3.72g
lvtemp	vg0	-wi-a-	10.27g

The related grub2 bug is here: http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?28212

I have tested today also with the latest unstable grub2:
1.98~20091210-1. My core.img has a size of 31985 bytes. Rebooting my box
failed with:
GRUB loading.
Welcome to GRUB!

error: biosdisk read error
Entering rescue mode...
error: the symbol 'grub_printf_' not found
grub rescue>

I purged all grub packages and manually deleted /boot/grub, but there
was no success.
