Bug#685219: grub-pc: grub installation failed(core.img too large)

Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.99-22.1
Severity: normal
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

1. I did a standard install(amd64,btrfs) with a netboot installer on an usb stick.
At the installation point of grub, the installer reported an error installing grub.

2. I rebooted with a rescue system and installed grub manually using grub-install.
I got the error message:

/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: Your core.img is unusally large. It won't fit in the embedding area..

3. I checked the used module list for removing not needed modules, but the only used modules are:
	biosdisk, btrfs, part_msdos

4. I tried to upgrade grub to debian unstable, but no new version is available there

5. The size of core img.is 38237 Bytes (I just replaced the btrfs.mod by ext2.mod in
/usr/lib/grub/i386-pc/, because ext2.mod its smaller, just to see if the size would
be small enough with the ext2.mod. The new size is 34383 Bytes and grub-install reports
this as too big again as before.

6. Maybe it's still the issue reported in Bug #562953 ?

regards,
Tobias
