Package: java-package
Version: 0.23
Severity: minor

Sorry this report is a little vague as I haven't taken the time to
fully investigate. Nonetheless, I thought it was worth reporting.

I have sun-j2sdk1.5 installed as created by make-jpkg with Sun's
jdk-1_5_0_02-linux-i586.bin (1.5.0+update02). Prior to that, I had
update01 and before that 1.4.2+06 along with the then-required
sun-j2sdk1.4debian package. Each time, I have just downloaded the
new version from sun, build the new package, and installed it. I also
removed the 1.4 packages when installing the 1.5 packages. Somehow
over the course of this activity, I've been left with several dangling
links in /etc/alternatives and in /usr/share/man. I get this daily
report from man-db:

/etc/cron.daily/man-db:
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/javap.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/native2ascii.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/javakey.1.gz is a dangling symlink
mandb: warning: /usr/share/man/man1/serialver.1.gz is a dangling symlink

Perhaps there's something a postinstall or a prerm or something should
be taking care of that would prevent this problem from happening. In
the mean time, I've just manually removed the danging links.

Thanks for your work on java-package. This is a very useful tool
indeed. I hope to be able to switch to a free java sometime, but
right now, I'm dependent upon generics and a number of API changes in
1.5, so I don't see that happening anytime soon.
