I need npm in stretch-backports for gitlab (since many node dependencies are still in NEW or unpackaged, I moved gitlab to contrib temporarily and use npm to install node modules). I tried uploading the previous npm version from oldstable (1.4) to stretch-backports but it was rejected. Now I need to backport npm 5.8. Let me know if any of you would like to help out.
