I've browsed upstream diffs on the database. I only see a lot of work in the tags area, I think that is where the exif data is stored. On the structure of the database I dont see any changes, so downgrading should be ok.

True.
I'm wondering if the changed interface of kipi-plugins/libkipi would be a problem. But i'm a bit lost when those changes are made.. Allee?
