I can't reproduce the problem. Here's what I tried:
- run digikam 6.4.0-3 from sid
- under the map view, click the first icon on the left (small globe)
- a menu comes up showing "Marble Virtual Globe" selected in the first section
and "Atlas Map" selected in the second section
- I select "Google Maps" instead
- display changes to google maps
- console output shows
digikam.geoiface: "setting backend googlemaps"
digikam.geoiface: located data: QUrl("file:///usr/share/digikam/geoiface/
backend-googlemaps.html")
digikam.geoiface: "ROADMAP"
... snipped ...
I can switch between 4 kinds of google maps: roadmap / satellite / hybrid /
terrain.
Do you see the same set of options?
What shows up on the console when you try this?
