Well if there had been an explicit dependency against libhdf5-103,
installing would not have even worked because it would have attented to
update libhdf5-103 from experimental at the same time it was pulling
digikam...
I have done a recursice dependency listing and it is indeed listed but I
would have assumed that anything listed in ldd /usr/bin/digikam would be
listed...

As other have pointed out, it works but remains
1) that the dependency generation is questionnable and probably not
well controlled because in 5.9 I have faced the same bug, 6.4 doesn't
even depend on libhdf*, 7.0.0 has no explicit depedncies,
2) If I do and experimental update it start failing again,
3) as soon as libhdf-103 hits unstable, the problem will reappear,
