I disagree with your interpretation : if you need to link explictly, 
there must be a dependency. With what you say,
you have no clue on the version dependency of directly linked libraries.

If opencv was doing a dlopen, then fine but that's not the case. How did 
you build you dependency? by hand? I bet you have added and overide...
