Are you using an external DB like mysql/mariadb?  
Does the workaround in this report help?

If not, can you provide reproduction steps?  Digikam 7.6.0 works for me so the 
reproduction will need explicit configuration steps.  Maybe you can configure 
from scratch for a new folder and share those steps?
