debian-kde is a user centric list and your question is more about packaging, 
so move this discussion to pkg-kde-talk.

It affects elisa, so yes a backport is possible. Just provide a MR or release a 
new version yourself. As you are part of the KDE/Qt maintainer team - Everyone 
in the team is allowed to push updates!
