[Pkg-xmpp-devel] Kaidan migration to testing

Dear Boris, and all other,

Thanks for your Kaidan remark, normally it is possible to manage a repository by several teams.
I think it is the solution.

Have you progressed on an update of Psi and Psi+ before Debian 11 freeze? People wait it, it is very old and without good security features...

At this time, people do not use this old XMPP client (the development is always here) in Debian because no plugins, and all others.
XMPP users will always use Gajim (easy to install).

I think it will be nice to have several repositories (I do not speak about translations) like other XMPP projects: https://salsa.debian.org/xmpp-team
- gajim
- profanity
- prosody
- psi
- psi-plus
- salutatoi
- strophejs
- tkabber

ejabberd:

Linphone:

And it is very easy to do it, I think that all repositories can be in a several "stack" like linphone:
- gajim
- profanity
- prosody
- psi/psi-plus
- salutatoi
- strophejs
- tkabber

It will better to search, to update too.

I hope improvements.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Neustradamus

Eh, I was not aware of this...

Yep, it does not make any sense.

Also if Kaidan really uses new features from Qt 5.12 and KF5 5.67 then
backporting it to older Qt and KF5 may not be so trivial and require too
much time.

Great news!

Yes, as far Kaidan is more close to XMPP topic than was Kopete I was thinking
that its bug reports and updates may be interested to members of "Debian XMPP
Maintainers" team (automatic emails to mailing list).

Also it would be visible at:
https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?email=pkg-xmpp-devel%40lists.alioth.debian.org
But this is not the main reason of course.

No, I do not think I'll have time for one more package. Sorry.

Best wishes,
Boris
