Yep, it does not make any sense.

Also if Kaidan really uses new features from Qt 5.12 and KF5 5.67 then
backporting it to older Qt and KF5 may not be so trivial and require too
much time.

Yes, as far Kaidan is more close to XMPP topic than was Kopete I was thinking
that its bug reports and updates may be interested to members of "Debian XMPP
Maintainers" team (automatic emails to mailing list).

Also it would be visible at:
https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?email=pkg-xmpp-devel%40lists.alioth.debian.org
But this is not the main reason of course.
