Hi,

That would be for the DVD+R DL problem in
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/780117
(The report says "(4,7 and 8,5 GB)" but the log is for DVD+R DL
which is peculiar around 50 % of write size.)

I only saw this in Brasero logs about DVD+R DL, up to now.

Do you have log files about single layer DVD and CD ?

Debian Bug#617409 is about a different problem:
The burn run looks normal, but the medium is in bad shape afterwards.
(I still bet on burners balancing on the edge of failure.)
Launchpad bug 780117 has some me-too comments which look similar.

That would support the theory that it is indeed a problem in Brasero
and not with the medium.
As it happens with CD media, it would also not be specific to growisofs.

I understand it is somehow specific to the use of libisofs.
But i can assure that libisofs would not simply end image production at
50 % without issueing some error message. It got stopped from outside.
(There is a mechanism for that.)

I did not yet examine the Brasero code which coordinates image production
and burn run. Actually i feel neither apt nor in charge for that.
Brasero needs an active developer.

Shall Ubuntu, Debian, and libburnia step up and ask whether Brasero is dead ?
We all have interest to see it living. But it smells suspiciously.

Have a nice day :)
