Hello Thomas,
Sorry for the extended delay in testing your patch. I was away from
home for two weeks and just returned.
I did an apt-get source libburn, then downloaded your file
changeset_r5014.diff, applied the patch, built the Debian packages
libburn4 and cdrskin using dpkg-buildpackage, and installed them with dpkg.
Then I loaded a virgin BD-RE disk in the BDR-2208 and entered:
cdrskin -v dev=/dev/sr0 blank=as_needed -eject
The result:
cdrskin 1.2.2 : limited cdrecord compatibility wrapper for libburn
cdrskin: verbosity level : 1
cdrskin: NOTE : greying out all drives besides given dev='/dev/sr0'
cdrskin: scanning for devices ...
cdrskin: ... scanning for devices done
cdrskin: status 1 burn_disc_blank "The drive holds a blank disc"
Current: BD-RE
cdrskin: beginning to format disc
Starting to write CD/DVD at speed MAX in real FORMAT mode for single
session.
Last chance to quit, starting real write in 0 seconds. Operation starts.
cdrskin: NOTE : Drive does not support media certification
cdrskin: formatting done
Formatting time: 28.005s
(Before the patch, this gave "cdrskin: formatting failed")
Excellent! The problem appears to be solved.
Thank you for your help! Long live Linux!
