Oh yes. So end most of my merry bug hunts. :))

Now how do i identify whether my BD burners are at USB 3.0 ?

The USB boxes are off when booting. I enforce reproducible
device addresses by switching them on one by one later.
Then i get messages like:
[ 9048.631388] usb 1-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 7 using ehci-pci
[ 9083.417859] usb 1-1.2: new high-speed USB device number 8 using ehci-pci
[10155.914226] usb 1-1.3: new high-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci

But i also isuccessfully copied about 350 GB from a USB disk:
[16375.104439] usb 3-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd

It seems there is a hardware component involved, which i am
glad to not have bought with my new machine.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
