I have noticed that I can reproduce this issue by following these steps:

1. Open pcmanfm
2. Browse to a source folder
3. Open a new tab
4. Browse to a destination folder in this new tab
5. Switch to the first tab with the source folder
6. Copy a folder on this tab (by right-click menu or Ctrl+C)
7. Switch to the tab with the destination folder
8. Paste the copied folder in this tab (by right-click menu or Ctrl+V)
9. While the copy operation is in progress, browse to another folder in the
destination tab

If I wait until the copy operation is complete, I can then browse to
another folder without issue.
Hope that helps.
