Dear Gordon,

This is great.

You should open a (guest) account on Alioth:
 https://alioth.debian.org/account/register.php

Once this is done, ask to join the pkg-mactel project:
 https://alioth.debian.org/project/request.php?group_id=100848

This will give you full access to the repository. I think you should
then create your own branch so you can experiment, and push this branch
so others and I can review it.

Also subscribe to this very mailing list
(pkg-mactel-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org) if it's not already done. Bug
reports on macfanctld are forwarded here, you need to get them. By the
way, there is one waiting unattended to my shame:
 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=761809

It would be worthwhile for you to read the initial "intent to package"
(ITP) bug I opened when I initially uploaded the package:
 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=706605

It contains several interesting ideas that have not yet been implemented
for lack of time and hardware for testing. What I ended-up doing was
simply converting the package to non-[native], and check it against the
Debian [Policy].

[native]
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMentorsFaq#What_is_the_difference_between_a_native_Debian_package_and_a_non-native_package.3F

[Policy] https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/

It fine to ask dumb questions. Dumb-friendly Debian developers can also
be found on the debian-mentors at lists.debian.org mailing list.

Debian as a lot of documentation. The mentors' FAQ is also a good
starting point:

Kind regards, Thibaut.
