pulseaudio is still pulled in on my laptop through task-mate-desktop
via a transitional dependency:
glaubitz at ikarus:~$ aptitude why pulseaudio
i task-mate-desktop Recommends gnome-orca
i A gnome-orca Depends speech-dispatcher (>= 0.8)
i A speech-dispatcher Recommends pulseaudio
glaubitz at ikarus:~$
In any case, my PulseAudio configuration still works on MATE
without any issues. Do you have problems with PulseAudio on
MATE?

It's a wiki, you know what that means :). Get an account and fix it,
everyone is welcome to help!
