I'm not sure. It should really be helpful if you report an issue against
the mate-eiciel github and add a link if needed to the Nautilus patch to
have the input of the developer.
I don't have the background to give you a better answer. I'd prefer to
see the input of upstream author.

I understand. I'm part of the Debian Mate Team and I don't use
caja-eiciel myself.
