That re-breaks the ending. But the reason I'm butting in here is to
say: this still has debian-l10n-english's #1 all-time favourite
giveaway of non-native-speaker English: "allow" without an object.
You can say "allowing users to set up an icon", or "allowing icon
setup", or even "allowing an icon be set up"; but "allowing to set
up" isn't allowed.

But wait, why are we ignoring the short description line?

This is a bit wordy, and again misuses "alike". But what other
applications like Icedove and Iceweasel is it talking about, anyway?
Shouldn't "like Iceweasel" include things like Chromium? But no, it
doesn't mean superficially similar apps, it means related ones:
Icedove, Iceweasel, Iceape, and nothing else available in Debian
(though I suppose mentioning Firefox might make the name more
intelligible).

This also draws my attention back to "unread messages in mail
applications". It means "in Icedove or Iceape Mail", right? And
who's using Iceape Mail? Just say "unread mails".

Here's my suggested revised version:

Description: system tray extension for Iceweasel, Icedove, etc.
FireTray is a system tray extension for Iceweasel and related
applications. It supports setting up a custom icon, hiding to the tray
instead of closing, displaying the number of unread mails, and more.
