Thank you so much for finally taking care of this. I am a bit ashamed 
I didn't do it myself, though. ;)

Good idea. However, let's plase clean up the debian/ directory a bit 
before the next upload. I think e.g. all the files referring to 
lib*-unstripped packages may be removed from the "master" branch at least.
