Diego seems more interested in adopting (or at least merging) 'our'
debian/ directory into upstream. The point of that is persumably making
it a convenience to create test packages for developers.
anyway, it seems upstream (and specifically Diego) has no problem with
having debian/ removed when creating the orig.tar.gz as noted in the
commit message. I've therefore adapted the get-orig-source.sh script to
do that change and merge the new tarball into the 'master' and
'master.unstripped' branch.
