I don't want to squeeze you for information you probably don't know 
yourself, BUT: Would you say there are chances that as a general 
solution encoders will be generally allowed in Debian in the short term?

I hope ftp-master let their actions speak and ACCEPT these packages 
ASAP. A message to d-announce would be nice, though, since this would 
be a really revolutionary change in Debian's package policy.
