I agree that ideally Mpv (or libfreetype, probably) should gracefully
handle fonts that it cannot render properly.

My guess is that the font is broken in some subtle way so that it
renders fine in some applications (otherwise you would probably have
noticed the issue earlier) but for some reason not here.

It is probably best to *not* distribute those fonts to the mailinglist,
as you might then violate the licensing terms you were granted for use
of those fonts.
If you don't mind, then email the fonts to me privately, and I will try
examine if/how those fonts are technically broken (and will then delete
the fonts again).
