Yes, MariaDB is has been in the new queue for a month and we hope
ftp-masters would show it some love to get it forward.

There are ready made binaries for multiple series, but not Jessie.
Current package does not build on Jessie as the Debian policy standard
is too high and also build-dep libreadline-gplv2-dev I think is called
libreadline-dev in Jessie. If you want, you can try to find a way to
get these automatically downgraded when building in a Jessie
environment.
