[debian-mysql] MySQL 5.7 Packaging

Hi,
Our biggest problem was that while Debian Stretch is still some ways off, the deadline for getting the packaging ready for Ubuntu Xenial is right now, so when I didn't get a response we simply couldn't wait. In general though I agree that Alioth is the correct place to work on this.
As for skipping 5.6 on Stretch, that seems like the best approach. We've done some testing on upgrading directly from 5.5 to 5.7 without seeing any big issues.

I was the first guy setting up a git repo at the place where it should be (alioth). Therefor I don't get your point, why I am working on my own?
Having a personal github repo sound more like this (to me).

But back to topic. As I have written, I have introduced most of Lars changes already on alioth.
