Yes, we started discussing if an additional metapackage really is
needed or not, but that didn't end in a clear conclusion.
The main point in that bug is the version string, and I offered that I
can bake a mariadb-server-core package that always depends on the
latest package, at the moment mariadb-server-core-10.0. The
alternative would be to have default-mysql-server-core that depends on
mariadb-server-core-10.0. So we could do without new metapackages and
utilize the already existing virtual-mysql-* scheme.
