Ok - thanks again for your patient explanation. I had a brainfart
on that line, I think I actually meant to say

+    MySQL continues to be maintained in Debian and may be
+    included in future stable releases.

But given the situation you describe perhaps this is appropriate:

+    MySQL continues to be maintained in Debian, in the
+    <literal>unstable</literal> release.
