How to reproduce:

(1) Install mariadb-server-10.0

(2) Upgrade to mariadb-server-10.1.  Note that this removes the
    mariadb-server-10.0 package but does not purge it - its
    configuration files and postrm are left (so it's in state "rc" as
    displayed by dpkg -l)

(3) Tidy up by purging mariadb-server-10.0
