Package: mariadb-server
Version: 10.1.37-0+deb9u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

     The package upgrade for mariadb-server (2018-11-20) did not
     succed with the following error message:

     Nov 20 06:31:09 *redacted* mysqld_safe[16933]: 2018-11-20  6:31:09
     139790055023040 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: unknown variable
     'server_audit_file_path=/var/log/mysql/mariadb_server_audit.log'

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

     I commented out the audit plugin relateted lines in the mariadb config
     file.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

     The upgrade succeded.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

     A successful upgrade without the need to commenting out the audit
